Disease Overview:An acanthoma is a small, reddish benign growth on the skin of an older adult. [more info]
Signs and Symptoms:Single or multiple red bump on skin that will slowly grow over time if left untreated [more info]
Diagnosis:Dermoscopy [more info]
Treatment:Removal via shave biopsy or curettage or cryotherapy [more info]
Clinical Management:Bumps will increase in size if left untreated and sometimes recur after removal [more info]
Referral:Dermatology. Referral to Medical Genetics Department, if available. Initial virtual care is also available through organizations like TeleRare Health.
